WordPress 4.8 Release Targeted for June 8 (wptavern.com)
WordPress 4.8 kicked off in this week’s core developer meeting and the schedule for the upcoming release is now published. Beta 1 is scheduled for May 12 and the official release is targeted for June 8. This will be the first major release in 2017 and is focused on laying the foundation for the new Gutenberg editor. -

There’s no doubt that sidebars have come in handy in the past. However, as minimalism and UX design gain more ore traction with each passing year, we’re starting to see sidebars fall by the wayside. So, that leaves me wondering whether sidebars are on their way out and, if so, what we’re supposed to do with all that “stuff” we’ve been storing there all this time.

This year we have lots of news regarding schedule. After last year, where we had three tracks and many great talks, we decided to try a different approach this year. We will have two tracks: 26 long talks and 16 lighting talks. Talks cover a broad range of topics – from design and development to accessibility, business and community. Our content team has had a tough job choosing talks as they had to go through more than 300 talk submissions, with many good talks not making the cut.
